June 12th, 2015 | Summertime Stains

Hello everyone, summer is in full swing and we hope everyone is enjoying this time of the year when warm weather reigns, the sun shines longer, and we can all spend more time outdoors doing the things we love. Summer seams to come with its own set of fun activities like hiking, eating ice cream, having picnics and barbecues, and going swimming. These things all can cause their own unique stains to clothes, but that’s no reason to not enjoy this wonderful time of year. Go ahead and enjoy your summer and we’ll help you take care of any summertime stains you might encounter!

Grass Stains: grass stains are very common during the summer months and come in many varieties. Luckily, they are fairly simple to remove. For really tough grass stains we recommend soaking the garment in a bowl of warm water with a small amount of laundry detergent for about 30 minutes and then simply follow the normal launder instructions.

Mud Stains: little ones are bound to get muddy during their summer adventures. The best way to treat these stains is to let the mud dry and then remove as much of the mud as possible with a utensil. Once that is complete, wet the affected area, apply a small amount of detergent and rub the stain out. Once you’ve treated the stain launder normally.

Ice Cream Stains: ice cream is both delicious and dangerous, so be careful when you’re enjoying this summer treat. If you get an ice cream stain we recommend soaking the garment in cool water for 10 minutes. After that rub some detergent into the stain followed by 30 more minutes of soaking in room temperature water. Finally, apply some sort of spot remover for 7-10 minutes before laundering normally.

Ketchup/Mustard Stains: It’s difficult to have a proper barbecue without ketchup and mustard present, and stains are bound to happen here. First of all, scrape away the excess condiment, and then run the affected area under cool water. Next, rub the stain out with detergent, working your way from the outside of the stain inward. For white garments you may try applying some lemon juice or white vinegar as a bleaching element. Of course, launder as normal once the stain is removed.

Sunscreen Stains: These stains may happen during your day at the beach or pool, and fortunately it doesn’t take much to conquer them. We recommend applying a spot remover to the stain, and then pretreating by rubbing it with warm water and detergent before washing it normally.

Happy summer to everyone, and now that you know how to handle the stains, have fun out there without worrying!

May 15th, 2015 | Allergy Awareness Month

May is Allergy Awareness Month, just in time for the usual slew of allergens to return in the spring time.. With 1 in 5 Americans suffering from either allergy or asthma symptoms, we need to do all we can to ensure we have clean homes to reduce the effects of these illnesses. Chem-Dry specializes in exactly that. We fight allergens and make your home cleaner and healthier to make the transition into spring easier on you and your family. Aside from having your home cleaned by us there are additional steps you can take to reduce the effects of the season:

Spring Cleaning: By keeping your home clean and tidy you can help reduce the amount of allergens and dust mites that exist in your home. Do simple things like emptying the trash daily, washing your bedding often, changing the filter in your furnace and air conditioner, and getting rid of any mildew. You’ll be surprised how such simple changes can make a big difference.

Keep Allergens at Bay: Part of the problem is that allergens cling to us and follow us into our homes. One way to keep them at bay is to remove your shoes, jacket, and hat when you enter the home. This way you leave them at the door instead of allowing them to tag along through the rest of the house. Another smart tip is to bathe at night, or even simply wash your hair before bed. This keeps your sleeping area clean and allergen free, which will allow you to get great sleep and wake up refreshed each day!

Pet Control: We all love our pets, but they are a common cause of allergies. There are some simple things you can do to reduce the allergy effects of having a pet while still being able to have them as part of your family. You’ll want to keep your pets off of couches, beds, and other living areas and ensure you clean up after them regularly. This includes bathing them on a regular basis. Your pets are lucky to have you, and following these simple tips can allow you to enjoy them without suffering from allergies.

While there are a lot of advantages to the Chem-Dry method, our ability to clean more effectively than any other brand or technique available is what makes us the best choice for your family. Restoring your carpets and upholstery to their original beauty is easy when you have the power of carbonation working for you. ASAP Chem-Dry exclusively uses this process to bring back the crisp feeling of new floors.

If you have ever poured a carbonated drink into a glass and had it overflow, you know the reality of the power of carbonation. Carbonation has natural "lifting" properties that bring all the bubbles right to the top. In that same vein, the solution developed by Chem-Dry uses carbonation to create an explosive reaction with your carpet, penetrating deep into the fabric and releasing grime from single fibers. We have carefully configured this reaction to gather all unnatural particles and lift them to the top of your carpet, where we can then extract them using our proprietary hot water extraction technique. Our proprietary solutions remove all unwanted particles from your carpet completely, leaving you with the most thorough, most healthy, and the most satisfying clean available anywhere

This is compared to steam cleaning where gallons of water are harsh soaps are dumped into your carpets. This approach presses dirt and moisture down into your carpet, hiding the mess rather than cleaning it, and creates a breeding ground for mold and other bacteria. This process also requires 1-2 full days for your carpets to dry completely. Since ASAP Chem-Dry uses the least amount of water possible, however, your carpets will be dry within just 1-2 hours. That means your carpets cleaned the ASAP Chem-Dry way could dry 24 times in the amount of time it would take for them to dry once after a steam cleaning. This is what makes Chem-Dry so well known.

At such an affordable rate everyone will be able to enjoy quality cleaning. For cleaner carpets and happier homes, call us today!

It is never more common or easy for your house to get dirty than it is during winter break, thanks to your kids and pets. In the spring, however, the mess once again becomes manageable with school starting again. With your house in chaos from the holidays, let us help restore it back to order with superior carpet and upholstery cleaning.

As leaders in the carpet cleaning industry for more than 35 years, ASAP Chem-Dry can leave your home fresher, longer with our proprietary cleaning methods. As compared to steam cleaners, which dump gallons of water into your carpet to hide dirt and other filth in your carpet fibers, ASAP Chem-Dry’s method uses carbonation to remove these unwanted particles from individual fibers and lift them to the surface, where they can be quickly and cleanly extracted with hot water. Using carbonation in our solution allows for less water use, which means your carpets will be dry in just 1 to 2 hours after the cleaning! Call us today for a free estimate!

It’s always good to have your carpets cleaned, but it’s better to know when to call. Even though most carpet cleaners will run to your home to fix the stain when you call, we're here to tell you that many stains will come up easily with a few easy steps and save you some money. At Chem-Dry, however, you are our first priority. Here are a few things most carpet cleaning companies won't tell you.

Warm water and a white cloth are all you need for the first remedy. To apply, dampen the stain on your carpet, then gently blot it with the cloth. While doing this, make sure you don't aggressively wipe or scrub the stain (as this will only make the spot worse). By firmly but carefully blotting the stain, you can transfer the stain from the carpet to your towel. As you carry out this process you can check your towel to see if the stain is lifting from the carpet. If your towel is not darkening, stop the process.

If there's no transfer to your towel, club soda is the next thing to try. Chem-Dry uses club soda as a key ingredient, making it an excellent solution for removing those tough stains. Like you did with the warm water, use a clean white cloth and dampen and blot the spot with the club soda looking for transfer often. It's time to call a professional if club soda doesn't give you results. We clean with some of the best solutions in the industry, leaving your carpets looking just as good as the day you got them. Call us today to get those tough stains out!

You may notice your carpets have suffered quite a bit this summer from having the kids home. But with school starting up again in the fall, all those messes will be minimized. In the stress of going back to school, it’s easy to forget about the mess summer has left behind – so let us worry about that.

Chem-Dry is a popular choice when it comes to carpet cleaners because of the unique cleaning process, leaving a cleaner, drier and healthier home! As compared to steam cleaners, which dump gallons of water into your carpet to hide dirt and other filth in your carpet fibers, Chem-Dry’s method uses carbonation to remove these unwanted particles from individual fibers and lift them to the surface, where they can be quickly and cleanly extracted with hot water. Don't fall into the competitors trap. Steam cleaners dump galleons of water into your carpet only to then try and suck them back out again; Your carpets are clean, but not for long. Since our process uses minimal amounts of water, your carpets will be completely clean and dry within hours, not days! Trust us with your carpets and give us a call today!

Allergens, dust, germs and other potentially harmful particles congregate in your carpets, furniture and other upholstered items on a regular basis. Rather than pushing these unwanted substances further down into your carpets, the Chem-Dry professionals use the power of carbonation to release them from individual carpet fibers and lift them to the surface, removing them completely. Though we can’t stop the allergens outside your home, try us to relieve your symptoms within your home!

ASAP Chem-Dry is primed and ready to partner with you for this year’s Spring Cleaning! Clearing out unused items and cleaning up your home helps us feel better. But more importantly, a deep spring cleaning in your home can help your family stay healthy and allergy-free this summer.

Most households can easily have a buildup of dust and dirt that are tracked in during the winter months. In addition, germs from colds, flu viruses and other illnesses stay stagnant in your home when the windows are closed. Opening your windows helps freshen the air, but it doesn’t help clear out the buildup of dust, dirt and germs that has built up in your carpets. Spring and summer can also bring mild or extreme allergies for many people. Over 50 million Americans suffer from allergies. Doing a complete spring cleaning can decrease allergy symptoms by removing dust, mites, bacteria and other allergens hiding on indoor surfaces, carpets, and upholstery.

Cleaning all surfaces, including hard-to-reach and hidden areas can reduce the allergens in your home. Cleaning blinds and removing unused bedding and plush toys can help as well.

We can help your deep spring cleaning efforts by:
- Deep cleaning your carpets, rugs, and upholstery. Our services help remove the hidden allergens in your carpets, and furniture.
- Applying our Sanitizer and Dust Mite Allergen Treatment. These products can keep your carpet free of dust mites for an extended time.

You may have a big family, or live alone. Either way, you have many more roommates than you can see.  Every time you leave your home, you track bacteria from outside into your carpets and onto your furniture. While this is just part of life, there are precautions that you can take to stop the spreading of these germs from your couch or your area rug to a dropped cookie or the fingers of a small child.

Chem-Dry uses a carbonated cleaning technique that is minimally invasive to your carpet fibers. We use 80% less water than our competitors, yet our powerful equipment extracts way more dirt and grime than any other carpet cleaning company out there. Also, our process provides you with a deeper clean, while maintaining a shorter drying time. That means there is less time for the bacteria and mold growing deep in your carpets and furniture to multiply and thrive on the moisture.

No one likes a roommate that skips out on rent. Don’t fall victim to the nasty mold stains or bacteria-filled carpets that could creep up on your before you know it!

It’s important to stay informed about your carpet’s warranty. According to an article by Tom Wolfe from Impressions Carpet Services, “A percentage of what you paid for your carpet went to cover the anticipated costs to the manufacturer for warranty claims. [These] claims are more often than not the result of poor, or improper, maintenance. Over the last few years, carpet manufacturers have begun to tie warranties to required maintenance by the carpet purchaser.

This means that whether you are in the market for new carpet or not, you need to be aware that the requirements are become more strict for warranties. “The bottom line is that proper maintenance will help you get a greater return on your carpet investment, no matter when it was purchased,” the article goes on to say.

Some of the main issues that manufacturers are addressing fall into 4 categories:

1. The proper cleaning method.
Most carpet mills require the Hot-Water Extraction Cleaning process, which is the method that Chem-Dry uses to give your carpets a deep clean without damaging the carpet fibers.

2. The proper cleaning schedule.
As a general rule, all major manufacturers have a minimum requirement that carpets be cleaned every 1-2 years. (keep your receipts as proof)

3. The proper cleaning system.
Your carpets should be cleaned professionally by equipment that is tested and certified with the Carpet and Rug Institute. All Chem-Dry equipment is certified and rated GOLD with the CRI, providing your home with the best technicians and equipment to get your carpets cleaner than ever.

4. The proper cleaning technician.
The single most important aspect in proper cleaning is to get the right person to do the job. All Chem-Dry technicians are trained and certified to deliver amazing results, while maintaining efficiency and staying affordable.

Stick with these handy rules to stay up to date with your warranty and keep your carpet looking great – FOREVER!
